Horse training

Wiky Enchantress · Black Unicorn

A talk on horse training then and now. We will look at the differences and get to know some of the methods and knowledge — from recreational horses through racing to show and battle horses.

Sword fighting workshop

SHŠ Poutníci

Poutníci have prepared a talk about historical fencing and an interactive workshop where you can try the basics and take a look behind the scenes of the art of the sword.

Held on both Friday and Saturday

When breath turns into song

Máša

How were the first flutes made, and with how many different voices can human breath speak? I will present the history and development of the flute — a clay vessel flute, a wooden pipe, recorders and the modern transverse flute. We will also get to know flutes from around the world: Irish flutes, the Peruvian flute, the Slovak koncovka and the pan flute.

Suitable for children and adults

At the helm of the pirate ship La Grace

Marek Turba

The captain of the historic sailing ship La Grace will show us what it is like to command this legendary vessel. Look forward to plenty of pirate tales and seafaring legends.

Didgeridoo workshop

Daphyd Crow

Want to work on your rhythmic skills? Use overtones and your voice to make the sound more dynamic — or just learn the basics? Come to my didge workshop at Sabat Fest.

Held mainly in English

Stories and myths behind the album Dryáda

Deloraine

Which stories inspire Deloraine's music? Which myths, legends and folk tales stand behind our songs? Come and take a look behind the scenes, and live through the stories of our songs.

The sabbath in Czech history

Derias

How did witches and their sabbaths work in our history? The frontman of Deloraine will tell you the darkest and most chilling facts about the gatherings of witches and their real fates.

Witch show

Wiky Enchantress

After Derias's talk about the sabbath, we will experience a short one first-hand — performed by Wiky and her fire art.

Archery tournament

Valravn

The Valravn group has prepared an archers' tournament by the tilting yard. Do not hesitate to sign up and compete with other visitors in this beautiful art.

Celts, Slavs and Germanic peoples

Martin and Adéla

A talk about the best-known pagan peoples who lived in our lands. Come and listen to a talk and discussion about the true pagans.

Fairy tale reading with Deloraine

Deloraine

The band members have prepared a fun afternoon for children small and large, reading them traditional and not-so-traditional fairy tales. No screens, no phones — the old-fashioned way, just ears and a good storyteller.

Meet the writers

Honza Slívka and Arling

Honza Slívka is a well-known Czech author of speculative fiction (Likvidátor, Masomlejnek). Together with fellow author Arling (Strážci Osudu, Ve stínu Jupitera) they will sit down to introduce you to the fascinating craft of writing stories.

Rhymes, rhythms and other trouble

Turmawen

Translating poetry and song lyrics is a bit of alchemy, and simply understanding a foreign language is nowhere near enough. You have to feel the rhythm, understand the melody, know prosody, and think not only about what words mean but also about how they will sound out loud. Using examples from their own writing and translation practice, we will look at why a literal translation sometimes does not work.

Open mic at the end — bring your own poem, lyrics or translation

Workshop with the balls

Kelvin Kalvus

Renowned performer and artist Kelvin Kalvus invites you to experience his art up close and discover what it really takes to master the art of juggling balls. You'll even have the chance to try it yourself — and who knows, you might leave inspired to start practicing your own skills.

Held mainly in English

Story reading

Spars

An audiobook live! Spars will read you an intriguing story — so come along, lie down on the ground, half-close your eyes and slip into a world of fantasy. Take a break from the rush and relax with a good story for a while.

Famous fantasy sagas through the eyes of history

Martin and Adéla

A talk and discussion. Game of Thrones, The Witcher and other similar works get compared against history. What is wrong, what is right, what is realistic and what is not — this talk reveals it all.

Sabbath and Sabbath party

The closing ritual

Come and sink into a trance, into the captivating rhythms of the drums; let your body merge with the others into a single dancing body. Let go, open up and lose yourself in the dance for a while.

Your own drums are very welcome!

Plenty more programme is on the way — we will be adding information gradually.
